Michael hung up the receiver and smiled at Sandy. “Good morning.”<\/p>\n

“Good morning.” She looked past him, searching for Kathy. “Are you alone?”<\/p>\n

“Lera and Dorothy are in the back. I sent Kathy for donuts.”<\/p>\n

“Do you still have that sweet tooth?”<\/p>\n

“Guilty as charged. There’s a bakery down the street that makes the best glazed old-fashioned donuts I’ve ever tasted. On Fridays, I splurge and buy a dozen.”<\/p>\n

“How do you keep in shape if you make a habit out of eating like that?”<\/p>\n

“I run five miles a day and work out three days a week. Besides, we can’t eat the whole dozen by ourselves. The first few patients get to help us.” He grinned. “That means you.”<\/p>\n

“Oh, boy, my lucky day,” she said without a hint of enthusiasm.<\/p>\n

His grin faded. “You don’t like glazed old-fashioned?”<\/p>\n

“There isn’t a donut in the world I don’t like. Unfortunately, they go right to my thighs.”<\/p>\n

“You have nothing to worry about in that department. Remember, I saw you yesterday in those tight slacks.”<\/p>\n

“They weren’t that tight, and you haven’t seen me without any clothes.”<\/p>\n
